Keum-Boo, Pendant or Earrings with Donna Madej Saturday March 17, 9:00am to 5:00pm
Students will complete 1 or 2 pairs of earrings or 1 pendant, using Keum Boo fusing techniques. Keum-Boo (also Kum-Boo or Kum-bu), meaning “attached gold,” is an ancient Korean gilding technique used to apply thin sheets of gold to silver, to make silver-gilt. The application of heat causes molecules to bond, and no solder is used in the process. Students will learn to apply gold foil to both smooth and textured surfaces.
Kit or materials fee (payable to instructor at start of class): $65, kit will include 23.5kt gold foil, 2 agate burnishers, tweezers, 22 gauge fine silver sheet, 2” x 3,” and sterling silver ear wires.
